BENTONVILLE — George Charles Blevins, 77, of Bentonville died Sept. 17, 2006, at his home. He was born July 28, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., to Hershel Owen and Iola Jean Goss Blevins. He was formerly employed in management and was a veteran of World War II. He was an ordained Baptist minister and was active in the Benton County Senior Center. He was a member of Woods Chapel Church and a former mayor of Avoca. His hobbies were billiards and board games. He was preceded in death by one son, Lynn Charles Blevins.
Survivors include two sons, Bradley Dean Blevins and wife Sue of Rogers, Hershel Augustus Blevins and wife Stephanie of Bella Vista; two daughters, Linda Sue Screws of Montgomery, Ala., and Teresa Michelle Smith and husband Herbert L. Smith III of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Guy Blevins of Sherwood and Larry Blevins of Fort Worth, Texas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Cemetery with Joe Gaddy officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Benton County Senior Center, 3501 Southeast L Street, Bentonville, 72712.
Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Bentonville.
