Cooper Cemetery
Baxter County,
Arkansas

CSA
June 15, 1841 - January 15, 1918

Francis Marion was born in DeKalb Co., AL the son of James and Mary Fannin(g) Cooper. In 1850 he came to Yell Co. staying there only a short time they then moved to what is now Marion Co. From Marion Co., Francis and two of his brothers enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861. Francis married Celia Alice 'Hettie' Crane 25 Oct 1866. Their house was said to be haunted. Celia tried to explain the strange goings on by saying Francis had killed a lot of people and they were wanting revenge. Maybe he believed this as he would allow no windows in his bedroom. Francis and Celia were the parents of 12 children.
