PUCKETT, Lucina SHATTUCK - Mrs. John C. Puckett died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Mundell, a few miles south of Pine Bluff, this state. The body is expected to arrive in Rogers today and funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Baptist church, although the exact hour had not been decided at this writing. Mrs. Puckett's death was a surprise and shock to the many friends and relatives here for it was not even known she had been ill. Mr. and Mrs. Puckett went to Pine Bluff only three weeks ago and at the time of the departure she was in apparent good health. It is supposed that death was the result of fever. She was 54 years old. Deceased was a member of the Baptist church of Rogers and had lived in and near this city ever since she came from Michigan with her parents at the age of 17 years. Her maiden name was Lucina Shattuck and her parents, C.P. Shattuck and wife, now live at Belton, Texas. She was married in 1872 to John C. Puckett, an uncle of John, Joe and Hugh Puckett of this city. To them were born four children, all of whom are living: Mrs. Hattie Mundell of Pine Bluff; Rice Puckett of War Eagle; Mrs. W.B. Hollyfield of Rogers and Miss Delia Puckett, who is teaching this fall near Pine Bluff. For many years they have lived on South Fourth street and were among the oldest residents of that part of town. Mrs. Puckett's untimely death will be greatly regretted by a large circle of friends for she was a most lovable Christian woman, whose position in the neighborhood, church and family can never be filled. The Democrat unites with the entire community in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
