DAVIS, Allen J. - (from The Fort Smith Times-Record) Allen J. Davis, 53 years old, of Avoca, Ark., died at a Ft. Smith hospital Thursday evening at half-past five. He leaves his wife and four sons and two daughters, who are Clifford, Garland and Ray Davis of Avoca, Clarence Davis of Wichita, Mrs. Mary Walters of Garfield, Ark. and Miss Mildred Davis of Avoca.

Mr. Davis, who has been employed with the Frisco railway for 33 years, was one of the most esteemed citizens of Avoca, where he had resided during the 33 years of his service with the railroad. He was a prominent member of the Masons lodge. Members of that order will be in charge of the funeral services to be held at Avoca where the body was sent by the Fentress Undertaking company. ***** Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held at the Christian church at Avoca Sunday at 1:00 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. R.M. Thompson. The Masons had charge of the services at the cemetery and the burial was at Buttram's Chapel. There was a very large attendance at the funeral. The notice given above from the Ft. Smith paper gives most of the facts regarding the family. Mr. Davis was born at Rolla, Mo. January 26, 1866. He was married to Eliza Kraus December 14, 1890 and to them were born six children, all of whom are living. He united with the Christian church in August 1914. Mr. Davis was held in high esteem by the entire community.
