August 19, 1933 - June 23, 2022

Wed: October 1, 1949

Mary Orilla Mosley White joined her Savior and the family that had gone on before her in Heaven on the morning of June 23, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was 88 years old.

Mary was born on August 19, 1933 in Madisonville, Texas to Ellen Bernice Catoe and Willie Oran Mosley. Mary was named after her maternal grandmother, Clara Orilla Hensarling and her paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Mosley. Mary was born the second child, having one older sister and five younger brothers.

Mary grew up in the country in Madisonville, Texas and learned many things that she passed on to the generations that followed her. When asked how she learned to sew, she said that she doesn’t remember the exact time, just that she was always “sewing”, even as a young child. Learning at the knee of her mother and grandmother, she was well known for sewing the clothes of her own children and even grandchildren. And at times would create matching outfits for their Barbies.

Mary married C.P. White on October 1, 1949 and together they had 8 children, 2 boys and 6 girls. Mary was most proud of her family and when possible loved to cook for them. Many Sundays were spent around the table enjoying a roast or the “Gospel Bird” (fried chicken) that Mary would prepare for after church meals. She loved to have her family around and especially loved when the grandbabies started to come. With 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren her heart was always full of love for each one.

Along with her husband, Mary traveled the world, seeing the sites in Scotland and Malta, she loved to collect spoons wherever she went. People abroad especially loved to hear her distinctive east Texas accent when she traveled. She was active in her church and being faithful in her Baptist faith accepted Jesus as her Savior many, many years ago.

Mary loved her family more than anything and was very active in their family reunions. Although failing health prevented her from attending the last several years, she actively encouraged others to go. In her later years, Mary felt it was her ministry to send cards and letters to family and friends. Those will be dearly missed by everyone that called her, Mom, Grandma, Nanny, Sister, Aunt and Friend.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, C.P. White, her sons, David White and Johnny White, her baby girl Mary Elizabeth White and also her daughter Susan Coston. As well as grandson, Marty Lartigue and granddaughter Brandi Coston.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Lartigue, Rebecca Bellard, Laura Williams and Donna (Tommy) Bone. One sister, Ruth Murphy and two brothers, Wendell Mosley and Wayne Mosley. As well as many grand, great and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas at 11am, Visitation will be at 10am at the church with burial next to her husband to follow immediately after the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jason Bellard, Robert Lartigue, Chris Bone, John White, Travis White, Johnny Coston, Justin Bone and Blake Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are: Grandson Cody Coston, Great Grandson Reagan Dalme and Grandson in Laws: Dwayne Inzer, Jeremiah Harpster and Tim Lancaster
