Edith Glaphyra "Chub" France, 96, of Mountainburg passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, in her home.
She was born May 20, 1914, in Fort Smith to the late James A. and Ethel (Hatfield) Gallaher.
She was a retired elementary school teacher; a member of the Presbyterian Church in Mountainburg; a member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Chester; a member of the Arkansas State Teacher's Association and Crawford County Teacher's Association, for which she had served as treasurer; and the widow of Lewis Logan France.
Survivors include her son, Lanier France and wife Irene of Mountainburg; two grandchildren, Chrissy English and her husband Jerrod and Lisa Marie Norris and husband Ryan, all of Alma; and four great-grandchildren, Logan and Morgan English and Shelby and Drake Norris, all of Alma.
Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 23 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with interment at Vaught Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Randall Shepherd, Dr. Robert Dilday, Bruce Lockard, Allen France, Jeff France and Giles France Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were former school students of Mrs. France.
