*Obituary - Garth E. Baskin

Mr. Garth E. Baskin of Clarksville, Arkansas, died April 30, 2010, at his home in Clarksville. Mr. Baskin was 88 years, 6 months, and 4 days old. He was the son of the late Dewey Buchanan and Essie (Jacobs)Baskin. He was a United States World War II veteran; where he served as a pilot in the NAVY from 1943-1946. He was the youngerst office to hold a command. After the war, he retrned to school and earned a teaching degree. He was a retired educator and principal(Grove, OK).

Mr. Baskin was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Wade Baskin and Blake Baskin.

He is survived by his wife: Gerry Baskin; two daughters: Brenda Darnell and her husband: Larry of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Keri Bivins and her husbnad: Ed, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; four sons: Randy Baskin and his wife: Shirley, of Wichita, Texas, Blake K. Baskin, of Claremore, Oklahoma, Tim Edmondson and his wife: Julie, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Trent Edmondson and his wife: Kathy, of Grapevine, Texas; a brother: Mercein Baskin and his wife: Shirley, of Atlanta, Georgia; 3 sisters: Reba Laster and her husband: Abe, Marilyn Kilcrease and Ann Schmatjen, all of Clarksville, Arkansas; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Harmony Presbyterian Church. Rev. Tracy Jullian, officiated the services. He was laid to rest at Harmony Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Josh Baskin, Aaron Baskin, Jed Darnell, Gabriel Darnell, Israel Darnell and Luke Darnell.
Honorary pallbearers were: Ed Bivins, Tim Edmondson, Trent Edmondson, Larry Darnell, Abe Laster, Jordan Polson, Kenny Baskin and Danny Baskin.

Gerry Baskin, formerly of Clarksville, AR, died in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, on September 8, 2013 at the age of 85. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, friend, and educator.

She was born in Ponca City, OK on December 5, 1927 to W.C. "Bud" Keathly and Adra Becker Keathly. Gerry graduated from Ponca City High School and Oklahoma A&M College, which is now Oklahoma State University. She obtained a master's degree and an APD degree from Pittsburg State College in Pittsburg, KS. Gerry taught many years in Miami, OK. Her students ranged in age from kindergarten through college. She came to Clarksville to teach at the College of the Ozarks.

Gerry married Larry Keith Edmondson in Stillwater, Oklahoma on March 24, 1948. Their children are, daughter Keri Bivins and husband Ed of Kingfisher, OK, son Tim Edmondson and wife Julie of Broken Arrow, OK, and son Trent Edmondson of Grapevine, TX.

Gerry and Garth Baskin were married in Clarksville, AR on February 14, 1986 and she considered his children, Randy Baskin and wife Shirley of Wichita Falls, TX, Kenny Baskin of Claremore, OK, and daughter Brenda Darnell and husband Larry of Vinita, OK, as her own. Gerry loved the many collective grandchildren and great-grandchildren and delighted in her nickname G.G., which was shortened from grandmother Gerry. She is survived by her brother Jack Keathly of Ponca City, OK, and many nieces, nephews, and their families. She was close to Garth's sisters of Clarksville, Reba Laster and husband Abe, Marilyn Kilcrease and Ann Schmatjen.

One of Gerry's great joys was providing flowers from her garden for Hilltop Bible Church. She also enjoyed spending time fishing and gardening with Garth.

After Garth's death in 2010, Gerry moved to Kingfisher, OK. She enjoyed her time at Country Wood Assisted Living and will be missed by many caregivers, friends, and relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 on Friday, September 13 at Harmony Cemetery outside of Clarksville, AR.
