Arhtur P. Purifoy, 84, of Louann died Saturday in a local hospital. He was a retired merchant, a former Tax Assessor of Ouachita County and a former mayor of Louann. Mr. Purifoy, a Methodist, moved to Louann in 1929. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Christine Donrelly of Bethesda, Maryland and Mrs. Ruby Burroughs of Benton; three sons, Preston Purifoy of Ft. Worth, Texas, Boyd Purifoy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Glenn B. Purifoy of North Little Rock; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Patterson of Elliott; Mrs. Annie Perry and Mrs. Effie Walker, both of Camden; two brothers, Clarence Purifoy and Andrew Purifoy, both of California, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Loann Methodist Church with burial in Liberty Cemetery, with Proctor's in charge of arrangements. (Camden News - October 20, 1969)
