Earnest Purifoy, Jr. was born in Good Hope (Chidester), Arkansas to the late E. B. Purifoy and Edna Mae Alexander Purifoy on January 12, 1950.
Earnest was the oldest of five children. As a child, he was spontaneous, adventurous, bold, and very independent.
Earnest accepted Christ early in life at Good Hope A.M.E. Church and continued to actively serve in the church until his transition. After graduating from Chidester High School, he started a career at Bridgestone Firestone Tire and Rubber of Prescott, Arkansas. Through hard work, long hours, and complete dedication, he supported Firestone for many years.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son—Travis D. Purifoy of Chidester, Arkansas; two daughters—Angela L. DaVaca of South Chesterfield, Virginia and Keeli B. (Todd) Minor of Chidester, Arkansas. He also has a son Kevin Morris of Illinois. In addition, he leaves seven grandchildren—Jasmine (Chris) Jenkins of Fairbanks, Alaska, T’atrique Purifoy of Hope, Arkansas, Darquale Purifoy of Chidester, Arkansas, De’Jah Davis of Atlanta, Georgia, Tyler Purifoy of Chidester, Arkansas, Trenton Minor of Chidester, Arkansas, and Eli Purifoy of Chidester, Arkansas. He also has a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving friends.
Earnest is survived by his three siblings—Arnie (Jeanette) Purifoy, Annie Moore, and Ruthie Purifoy of Arkansas.
He is preceded in death by his father—E.B.; mother—Edna Mae; and sister—Luria Jean (L.J.).
