ROGERS — Gene Jefferson, 67, of Rogers died March 17, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.
He was born April 17, 1832, Rogers to Pierce and Laura Smith Jefferson.
He was a 1950 graduate of Rogers High School and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
He worked for Phillips Petroleum for more than 23 years and owned Top Heat Petroleum and Jefferson Appraisal Service both in St. Louis, Mo.
He was a member of the Arkansas and Missouri real-estate commissions, a former officer in the Oilmen's Club of greater St. Louis.
He helped found Rockwood Bank in St. Louis County and served on the House Springs, Mo., Water Board and the St. Joseph Hospice board in Kirkwood, Mo.
He was a member of the House Springs Lions Club for more than 25 years, a the Masonic Lodge 460 since 1953 and the Eureka, Mo. United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Craig Jefferson of Rogers, to whom he was married 47 years; one son, Craig Jefferson of Rogers; one daughter, Shari Jefferson of Rogers; one brother, Randy Jefferson of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Louise Jefferson and Betty Trice, both of Rogers; three grandsons.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Rogers, with the Rev. Rodney Steele officiating. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stockdale Funeral Services in Bentonville.
