Melba Jane Jones Shipley of Wideman Arkansas and Prospect Heights Illinois departed this life on August 22, 2013 at her home in Illinois. Melba was born on May 15, 1929.
She married A. G. Shipley On August 14, 1948 in Wideman, Arkansas, and to this union three daughters were born: Judy, Cindy and Pam. Melba and A.G. left Arkansas to pursue their dreams in Chicago IL in 1950 but always returned at least once a year to Arkansas or as she referred to it; "as home".
Melba was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers and also to sing and dance. Music was her inspiration and she created a deep love of music in all her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years: A.G. Shipley; three daughters and sons- in-law: Judy and Rick Glass of Genoa City WI, Cindy And Rick Brodhead of Lake Tomahawk WI, and Pam and Bill Hayes of Mt. Prospect IL. One sister; Ramona (Dale) Townsend of Wideman, and one brother; Morris (Mavis) Jones of Wideman. Twelve grandchildren that were the light of her life: Jeff, Joshua, and Andrew Glass, Jessie Barnes, Meghan, Rachel, Matt and Michael Brodhead and Chloe, Maddie, Jason and Audrey Hayes along with her extended family of nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Dossie Alvin and Margaret Jane Jones; two brothers: Gamaliel Jones and Gerald Jones and one infant grandson; Scottie Glass.
