Edward Carl Atkins, 80, of Chidester was killed Friday when the truck he was driving collided with a tractor on U.S. Hwy. 67 north of Emmett in Nevada County. Funeral services were held Sunday at Chidester United Methodist Church with burial in Chidester Cemetery. Mr. Atkins was born in Lester, AR. Dec. 16, 1894 and was the son of Leon Atkins and Cora Stott Atkins. He was married June 27, 1926 to Laura Gladys Pool of Little Rock. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Laura Pool Atkins; two sons, John Edward Atkins of Little Rock and William Robert Atkins of Georgia; two brothers, Russell Atkins of Chidester and Joel Atkins of Texarkana; one sister, Mrs. Helen Blagrave of Chidester and three grandchildren.
