Byron Napier, 94, of Fayetteville died Saturday, April 17, at Fayetteville City Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1898, at Huntington, W.Va., and moved to the Prairie Grove area as a youth. He was employed by Linkway Stores for over 30 years and managed the Rogers and Fayetteville stores. He was later affiliated with Lewis Brothers of Fayetteville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fayetteville, a 32nd degree Mason with membership in Blue Lodge 460, Rogers, Commandry 24, Knights Templar, Eastern Star-University City Chapter 495 and Consistory in Fort Smith.
Survivors are two sons, Byron Napier Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., and Bill Napier of Fort Smith, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Fayetteville, with Dr. Jere D. Mitchell officiating. Private burial is to be in Benton County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fayetteville or Fayetteville City Hospital Geriatric Unit, c/o Washington Regional Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 356, Fayetteville, Ark., 72702.
