CLARK, Emma DOWNEY - Mrs. S.N. Clark died quite suddenly Saturday morning at her home at the Electric Springs. She had been ill for some time but her condition was not considered serious and her death came as a great surprise to the friends in town. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Presbyterian church and were conducted by Rev. T.E. McSpadden. Burial was in the City Cemetery. Miss Emma Downey was born June 30, 1847 in Missouri and was married to Samuel Newell Clark at Granger, that state, on May 2, 1878. To them was born three children, only one of whom, the late Perry N. Clark of Rogers, lived to manhood. Mr. and Mrs. Clark had lived in Benton county 24 years, moving to Rogers from Bentonville some seven years ago to be near their son, who was cashier of the Farmers State Bank. Mrs. Clark is survived by her husband and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ada Clark, and two grandsons, Harold and Frank. A sad feature of Mrs. Clark's sudden death was that an only sister, Mrs. Nora Stenson of Sterling, Colo. who she had not seen for many years, arrived here Saturday afternoon, a few hours after the death of the former. A niece from Missouri and a nephew from Kansas City were also here for the funeral. Mrs. Clark was a member of the Presbyterian church of Rogers and had been a Christian from early youth. She was a woman of many splendid qualities and had a large circle of friends wherever she lived.
