SPRINGDALE — Bert Lavon Langley, 77, of Springdale died Dec. 21, 2002, at his home in Springdale. He was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Admire, Kan., to Loy B. and Ruth Thompson Langley.
His family moved to Goshen from Eskridge, Kan., when he was 9 wars old. He graduated from Huntsville in 1942. He then joined the Merchant Marines in 1943 and served on different ships until World War II was over and helped bring our men home on these ships.
He returned to Goshen and raised chickens from 1949 to 1952. He then moved his family to Wichita, Kan., and worked for Beech Aircraft from 1952 to 1958. He then went to work for Land Air and Lear Siegler from 1958 to 1969.
After this, he moved his family back to Springdale and went to work for Shakespeare and other companies, until his employment at Crane Co. in Rogers. He retired in 1988.
He was a member of the Sonora Baptist Church and a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara J. Skelton Langley; one daughter, Lavella Jackson and husband Pete Jackson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Larry Langley and wife Brenda Lawson Langley of Springdale and Rodney Langley and wife Adelia Langley of Hampton, Va.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, with Danny Williams, pastor of Sonora Baptist Church, and Glen Faulkner, pastor of New Sulphur Free Will Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Springs Cemetery with Masonic rites performed by Doug Robbins.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Calloway, Rudy Leach, Don Pitts, John Montgomery, Dallas Hale and Jim Wiley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Millsap, Jerry Smith. Donnie Pitts, Gene Rodgers and the Sonora Baptist Men's Sunday school class.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2002, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Barbara J. Skelton Langley, 79, formerly of Springdale died Nov. 6, 2010, in Oklahoma City. She was born July 21. 1931, in Hazel Valley. She was active in her church and Sunday school and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Lavella Jackson and husband, Garry, of Yukon, Okla.; two sons, Larry Langley and wife, Brenda, of Springdale, and Rodney Langley and wife, Adile, of Hampton, Va.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, Okla., and 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale.
Burial will be in Elm Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home.
