Reed Hubbard son of Pleasant and Louise Jane Hubbard, was born in Hammonville, Ky Aug. 21st, 1865, and died at his home in Cave Springs Jan. 13th, 1936.

He came to this section with his parents when about 16 years of age, first to Washington County near Prairie Grove and later to Benton County, where the family lived for many years. He spent about 15 years in Oklahoma. He was married there to Miss Sallie Whitaker in 1901. To this union two children were born, both dying in infancy. The wife died in 1904. He was married to Dr. Ella Sturdivan Dec. 26th, 1909. To this union one son was born, Leslie Sturdivan Hubbard.

Mr. Hubbard was converted and joined the Methodist Church at Council Grove about 20 years ago. He moved his membership to the Elm Springs church four years ago. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge at Elm Springs at about the age of 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Ella S. Hubbard, his son, Leslie S. Hubbard, two brothers, Jefferson Hubbard of Independence, Mo. and G.R. Hubbard of Washington, Kans.; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He lived, since his conversion, with a simple, unfaltering faith in his Redeemer, and at 6:50 on Monday morning he thus went out:

“Through the clear silence of the moonless dark,
Leaving no footprint of the road it trod,
Straight as an arrow cleaving to its mark,
The soul went home to God.
“Alas,” they cried, “He never saw the morn,
But fell asleep out wearied with the strife.”
“Nay! – rather, he arose and net the dawn
Of Everlasting Life.”
