ROGERS — Elvin E. Ward, 81, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Bradford House Health Center in Bentonville. Born and raised in Cave Springs, Ark., residing in Rogers, Ark., the son of Newton James Ward and Mattie (Jackson), he was a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas.

A kind, gentle man of great faith and quiet grace, Mr. Ward was a carpenter building many homes for families in Northwest Arkansas. He took great pride in his construction business and loved to help others. Over the years, he had a great love of the outdoors in hunting and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara E. Ward; parents; sons, Randy Ward and Steven Ward; daughter. Cheryl Ward; brother, Elmer Ward; sisters, Loretta Etheridge and Opal Hubbard; friend and companion, Adrienne Cocalas.

Elvin is survived by his sons, Gary D. Ward, Rick Ward and wife, Cynthia, Jeff Ward and wife, Laura, Roger Ward and wife, Belinda; his daughter, Julie Reynolds and husband, Kevin; sister, Bertha Cornell; brother, James Ward and wife, Mildred; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Elvin will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at Phillips Cemetery in Cave Springs.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, May 6, from 2-4 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers.

PEA RIDGE - Barbara E. Ward, 69, of Pea Ridge died Nov. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born April 17, 1932, in Whittier, Calif., to Charles and Helen E. Parker Whittaker. She moved to the area in 1968 from Colorado Springs, Colo., and was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed camping and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Elvin Ward of the home, to whom she was married 37 years; five sons, Garry Ward of Grady, Rick Ward of Pea Ridge, Jeff Ward of Chapel Hill, N.C., Steve Ward of Tulsa, Okla., and Roger Ward of Pea Ridge; two daughters, Julie Ward Reynolds of Bentonville and Cheryl Campbell of Rogers; one brother, Dick Whittaker of Portland, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. Erik Boye officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery near Cave Springs.
