Barbara Carson, 85, of Russellville, AR and of Clinton, CT died August 5, 2009 in Russellville. She was born January 2, 1924 in Windsor, CT. She was the daughter of the late G. Richard Perkins and Ruth S. Perkins of Hartford, CT.

Mrs. Carson was the media specialist at Gardner Junior High School for many years. She graduated with a B.S. from University of Connecticut in 1945 and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She received a Master in Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 1976. She also attended the University of Arkansas and Arkansas Tech. She was a presenter at numerous state audio-visual and library conventions. She was a member of AAYA, AEA, NEA, AARP, the River Valley Iris Society and the Daylily Club.

She was preceded in death by her brother Douglas Perkins of Clinton, CT.


Survivors include her three sons with Edwin Carson who are David Carson of Odessa, TX, Bruce (and Debra) Carson of Eugene, OR and Kevin Carson of Russellville, AR, two grand children, Rachael Shepard of Centerton, AR and Michael Carson of Russellville, AR and one great grandson Blake Carson.

The funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church Chapel of Russellville on Saturday the 8th of August at 2 PM. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
