Myrl Elizabeth Cochran Myers, 91, of Clinton, died peacefully on January 31, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Known far and wide as "Granny," she was born June 11, 1921, to W.H. (Buck) and Beulah Cochran in San Saba, Texas. Preceding her in death was her husband, Vernon Myers; a brother, J.D. Cochran; and sister, Melba McKee.
Survivors include her four children: Lura Jane (Tom) Hawkins, Leroy (Phyllis) Myers, Leon (Angel) Myers, and J B (Jeanette) Myers. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren: Jud (Sharon), Jay, Bret (Tonya), Lura, Donna (Dan), Debra (Gary), Michael (Caroline), Sherry (Brian), Jason, Joey (Emily), and Jared. She was also the proud Great-Ninny to fifteen great-grandchildren: Ashlee, Miki Ann, Danielle, Morgan, Mallory, Brooks (the only boy), Kathy, Kasey, Ashley, Brittany, Riley, Josey, Lucy, twins Norah and June, and three great-great granddaughters, Charlotte, Ella, and Hannah. Also surviving is one sister Mada Fate, sisters-in-law Lennie Cochran and Rosalene Cooper, and a brother-in-law J.C. McKee.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, February 3rd at 2 p.m. at Choctaw Church of Christ. Cremation is by Roller-McNutt Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Van Buren County Special School, the food bank at Choctaw Church of Christ, or Kristen Martin Scholarship Fund of Drasco.
