McCURDY, Armilda - Died, Sept. 3rd, 1913 at her home north of Bentonville, Mrs. Armilda McCurdy, in the 72nd year of her age. Deceased was born in Overton Co., Tenn. Her parents were among the early settlers of Benton county. There were 16 children in the family, eight sons and eight daughters. Four of the sons are living. Seven of her sisters who survive her live in a radius of 10 miles of the old home on Sugar Creek, north of Bentonville. She was married to R.D. McCurdy Jan. 13th, 1861. To this union were born seven children, four sons and three daughters, all living honored and respected lives except one who died in infancy. She was the grandmother of 22 children and the great grandmother of four children. Early in life she professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a faithful, worthy and efficient member of the Presbyterian church at the time of her death. She had been sorely afflicted for several years yet never murmured over her lot. The funeral service was held from the residence, attended by a large congregation of her kindred, neighbors and friends. The remains were buried in the Ricketts family burying ground by those of her husband who had gone before. May God bless and comfort the bereaved and mourning friends. P. Carnahan.
