Franklin H. Cotton was born at Gasport, New York Sept. 20, 1839 and died at Bentonville, Ark. March 30, 1910 at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 10 days. In early boyhood he moved with his father to Eastern Iowa. He was married Jan. 20, 1864 to Harriet Truax, who survives him. To this union was born five children. Two sons survive him, C.L. Cotton of White City, Kan., and the Rev. C.T. Cotton of Williamsburg, Kan. The deceased united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1878, of which he has been an official member for thirty years. He came to Bentonville in 1896 where he has resided since. The church and town feel a great loss in the departure of so good a man. The funeral services were conducted by his former pastor, Rev. J. H. Maddox of Siloam Springs.

COTTON, Harriet M. TRUAX - Harriet M. Truax was born in Dunham, Canada on March 5th, 1845. Departed this life at her home in Bentonville, Ark. after a week's illness with pneumonia on December 31st, 1927 aged 82 years, nine months and 26 days. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Church by the pastor, Rev. O.A. Fortune, and burial was made in the city cemetery. The deceased moved with her parents from Canada to Eastern Iowa when four years of age, settling at Maquoetka where she grew to womanhood. On January 20th, 1864 she was united in marriage with Franklin H. Cotton. To this union was born five children, three sons and two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Cotton moved to Western Iowa in 1876 where they made their home in those early pioneer days. In 1896 they moved from Iowa to Bentonville, Ark. where the husband departed this life in 1910. In early womanhood Sister Cotton united with the Methodist Church and has been a loyal and faithful member as has been exemplified by her devotion and love for the church. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons: C.L. Cotton, Burlingame, Kansas and Rev. C.T. Cotton, Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her Pastor.
