SILOAM SPRINGS - Marcelyn Ellen Ruede, 57, of Siloam Springs died Aug. 28, 2004, at her home. She was born Oct. 26, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo. She was adopted and reared by Ralph and Harriet Vander Meer Waiting. She graduated from Wyoming (Mich.) High School as valedictorian. She graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. degree in English literature education and a M.A. degree. She earned a doctorate in educational administration and supervision in Florida, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During her career, which began in 1968, she taught junior high, high school, college and continuing education levels. Her last teaching position was the BIT program at Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale. She was a volunteer for various organizations including the American Red Cross and Altrusa Club International. She was a church pianist and organist for the past five years.

She owned and operated a computer store in Sarasota, Fla., and a computer training center and consulting business in Tulsa, Okla. She was named Outstanding Professor of the Year at Webber College in Florida; Outstanding Professor of the Year at Oklahoma Wesleyan College in Bartlesville, Okla.; Small Business Person of the Year in Sarasota; Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year in Manatee County, Fla; and finalist for Small Business Person of the Year of the south Florida region. She married William Leroy Ruede, on Oct. 2, 1999. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dan L. Warlick.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy Ruede of the home; two stepsons, Charles Ruede and wife Jamie of Medellin, Columbia, South America, and Delbert Ruede and wife Susan of Siloam Springs; one stepdaughter, Gwendolyn Ogan and husband Ron of Tulsa; four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Yell Cemetery in the Robinson community.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Siloam Springs.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in her name, the Mold Awareness and Assistance Program, c/o Arrest Bank.
