Obituary for Ortis Sweeden Mr. Sweeden was a former Manager & Owner of Chanticleer Golf Course of Alma. He grow up in Atkins, Arkansas where he was well known Athlete at Atkins High School. He was an avid golfer and a member of Cedars Country Club. Mr. Sweeden was a christian of the Methodist Faith and was loved very much and will be remembbered in high regards. He is survived by his wife: Erma Sweeden of the home, one daughter: Anita Sweeden of Van Buren, a son: Glenn Sweeden and wife, Jan of Ozark, Three Grandchildren: Gerri Runion of Fort Smith, Jennifer Craft & Seth Sweeden both of Ozark. Four Great Grandchildren.Pallbearers: Matthew Hendrix, Dannie Sills, Bryan Craft, Maxi Walker, Billy Farkas, Randy Hall

Erma Ruth Sweeden, 80, Van Buren ascended from her earth bound body to join her heavenly father and be back into the arms of her husband, who preceded her in death October 31, 2006.
She was born on April 7th, 1932 in the Atkins bottoms, Pope County, Arkansas.

She was raised by her grandfather, Dee Hern. She married her high school sweetheart, Art Sweeden in 1950; she was 17 years of age. They moved all around Arkansas and had many business ventures including Broadway Café in Van Buren, Chanticlear Country Club in Alma. She enjoyed golf and she was the club champion at Cedars Country Club in 1988. She enjoyed garage sales and her dachshunds.

She is survived by three children, Glenn Sweeden of Pettigrew, AR; Gail Welcher of Indiana and Anita Sweeden of Van Buren; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday May 18th 2012 at 1:00pm at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
