Opal Ersie Sartin Norman, 90, of Fifty Six, Arkansas entered into rest on October 28, 2009 at the Stone County Medical Center in Mountain View.

Opal was born February 22, 1919 in the vicinity of the Brewer Cemetery which is not far from Roasting Ear Creek to Tim and Callie (Brewer) Sartin.

She was a member of Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for 42 years, and was a retired country store owner and U.S. Forest Service Weather Recorder.

She is survived by three sons, Flynn Norman and wife Daisy of Mtn. View, Harold Norman and wife Patti of Springdale, AR and Gary Norman and wife Jan also of Mtn. View; a sister Belva Smith of Gassville, AR; a sister-in-law, Walsa Sartin of Batesville, AR; six grandchildren, Beth Flippo (Scott) of Mtn. view, Melissa Foley (Cecil) of Williamsburg, KY, David Norman (Logan) of Graham, TX, Andrea Johnson (Jeff) Pineville, MO, Carrie Futrell (Ramey) of Mtn. View and Monica Wood (Chad) of Nesbit, MS; fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a special roommate, Avanell Moody, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Norman of 25 years, her parents, six brothers, Adolph, Clarence, Ray, Roy, Claud, and Odis; two sisters, Dorothy and Nola, one grandson Robert Brent Norman and one granddaughter Kimberly Diane Norman.

Visitation is 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Roller Coffman Chapel, Mtn. View.

Funeral service and Memorial Celebration is 2 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at
Fifty Six Missionary Baptist Church, Fifty Six, Arkansas.

Officiating is Bro. Robb Arnold and Bro. Luther Branscum with interment in Fifty Six Cemetery, Fifty Six, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are Clint Jason, Jack Thomas, Don Thomas, Junior Lee Deatherage, Bill Jason, Harold Allcorn, Horace Hudspeth and Frank Sutterfield.
