BELL, Corena M. - With the passing away of Mrs. Corena M. Bell, who died at the home of her son, Prof. Eugene R. Bell of Nowata, Okla., there came the end of a life of unusual strength and beauty. She was a teacher of more than ordinary ability and taught in the government Indian schools in New Mexico, the Presbyterian Mission at Shady Point, Okla. and in the public schools of Kansas and this state. For several years she was a resident of Bentonville but with a great desire to be with her only son she moved to Nowata, Okla. where she died at the age of 72 years. The body was brought back for burial to the beautiful Barron cemetery at Vaughn where the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H.W. Steen of Bentonville. A touching scene at the burial was that six splendid young men, some of them wearing their army uniforms and all of them having been her former pupils, carried her body to its last resting place. She was laid beside her husband who died at Healing Springs in 1906.
