Joe Ellis Sumners, 81, of Junction City, died Saturday morning in a Junction City hospital. Sumners was born December 30, 1887, in Blanch Springs, Ark., the son of William R. and Mary Elizabeth Sumners. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Junction City. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jessie May Sumners, Little Rock; four sons, Elton Sumners, Bossier City, La.; F. O. Sumners, Helena, Victor Sumners, Austin, Tex., and Wayne Sumners, Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond New, El Dorado; two step-daughters, Mrs. Homer Parker, Little Rock, and Mrs. Ray Wilson, Panama Canal Zone; one step-son, Bob Beene, Crossett; one brother, F. E. Sumners, Junction City; five sisters, Mrs. Sally Morgan, Mrs. Sue Hall, Mrs. Denny Hall, and Mrs. C. W. Templeton, all of Junction City, and Mrs. Lou Nell Greenlee, Little Rock; four grandchildren; and ten step-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bailey Funeral Home.
