Mrs. Marylyn F. McGinness
Mrs. Marylyn F. McGinness, age 86 of Henderson passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at her home. She was born April 19, 1927 in Center, Arkansas to Homer And Elgie Haney Freeman. She married Bogard McGinness on November 6, 1946 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Mrs. McGinness was an educator and received her masters degree in education from the University of Memphis. She was a teacher for over 35 years and retired from Viola Public Schools as the Elementary School Principal. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson. She was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and never missed a game. She enjoyed reading and visits from her family.
She is survived by 2 sons: Mike (Barbara) McGinness of Mammoth Spring and Pat McGinness of Henderson; a daughter, Becky (Bill) Westerfelt of Thornville, Ohio; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren; A sister JoAnn (Don) Martin of North Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bogard McGinness on May 14, 1982; a brother, Thomas Freeman, a sister, Varena Campbell, a granddaughter, Michelle McGinness and a step grandson, Billy Westerfelt.
A funeral service, conducted by Reverend Van Brown will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Henderson, Interment will follow in Custer Herron Cemetery.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to the caregivers from Home Instead for the wonderful care they provided.
