Sarah Sofronia Barclay was the oldest child of George Franklin Barclay and Johney Harper. She was first married to James Stapp on September 9, 1888 at Franklin County, Arkansas; this union brought a son, George David.
She married Willis Howery Mason on September 30, 1894 in Indian Territory (Oklahoma). They were the parents of five children: Raymond Edgar, Suda Mae ("Sue"), Johnnie Pricilla ("Syble"), Oma Lena and Carolyn Frances.
