Lifelong Lynn resident

LYNN -- Maynard E. Casper, 87, of Lynn died Wednesday, Feb. 16, at St. Bernard's Medical Center of Jonesboro.

A native and lifelong resident of Lynn, he was a retired farmer and Army veteran. He was a deacon at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school there.

He served as a Farm Service board member for 15 years. He and his family were named Lawrence County Farm Family of the Year in 1967.

Survivors include his wife, Elta Lingo Casper of the home; a daughter, Sherry Casper Glenn of Lynn; a sister, Imonell Holt of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Randy Glenn, Brent Glenn and David Glenn, all of Lynn; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death his parents, Filmore and Verna Lawson Casper; his stepmother, Ada Smith Casper; and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with Jason Palmer and Carl Cate officiating. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Holt, Tony Nunnally, James B. Richey, Jeff Richey, Jerry Goodwin and Corky Hunter.

Honorary pallbearers will include Tim Nunnally, Gene Hunter, Harold Morgan, Jack Rainwater, R.C. Goodwin, Larry Goodwin, Thomas Gawf and Carl Sullivan.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the church.

LYNN -- Elta Lingo Casper, 92, of Lynn passed away Monday, March 27, 2006.

She was born March 6, 1914, at Lynn to Rosco and May Osburn Lingo. Elta was a lifelong resident of Lynn and a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She married Maynard Casper on Jan. 19, 1936.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Effie Goodwin; one brother, Iverson Lingo; and a son-in-law, Larry Glenn.

She is survived by one daughter, Sherry Glenn; three grandsons and their wives, Randy and Belinda Glenn, Brent and Melinda Glenn and David and Christy Glenn; four great-granddaughters, Cassie, Trisha, Amber and Natalie Glenn; one great-grandson, Braden Glenn; a longtime special friend, Lettie Brannon; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church with Jason Palmer and Charles Helms officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn is in charge of arrangements.
