SPRINGDALE — Era E. Walker, 99, of Springdale, Ark., went to be with the Lord Aug. 7, 2010.
She was born April 27, 1911, in Huntsville, Ark., the daughter of late Fred D. and Allie McRay Watson. She was the oldest of four siblings. She married Clark Walker on May 16, 1930, in Westville, Okla.
She graduated from Springdale High School and the University of Arkansas. She taught in the public school system for 30 years, retiring in 1971.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Clark J. Walker; a daughter, Sally Walker Marbury; and her brothers, Stanley J. Watson and Carl F. Watson.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred N. Atkisson of Denver, Colo,; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Roger Keihl of Springdale, Ark.; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Alan Jones of Brownsville, Tenn.; son, Curtis Walker of Springdale, Ark.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kristie Walker of Bells, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be held at Sisco Funeral Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Springdale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, with the Rev. Judy VanHoose and the Rev. Stephen Colburn officiating. Burial will be at Bluff Cemetery.
