John Wilson, 97, of Dermott, formerly of Hamburg, died Monday, January 6, 2003, at the Dermott City Nursing Home. A native of Ashley County and a resident of Dermott for the past two months, he was a retired farm laborer and a member of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include one special niece, Louise Buford; and a host of other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Garfield and Mary Alice Tibbs Wilson; seven brothers, Ed Simpson, Lee Roberts and Zemmery, Robert, John T., Arthur and Tom Wilson; and three sisters, Lucy Williams, Effie Smith and Maggie Gray.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church with Bishop Alfonso Madden officiating. Burial will be at Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are to be Aubrey Wilson, Cleveland Wilson, Tom Wilson, Anthony Wilson, Nathaniel Wilson and Johnny King.
