CRAIG, Edward Albert - Died, at San Antonio, Texas on Friday, April 19th at 7 o'clock a.m., Edward Albert Craig, aged forty years, five months and fourteen days. The deceased, a son of James T. and E.A. Craig, was born in Bentonville, Ark. Nov. 5th, 1860. He was the second of four sons, the youngest having died in infancy. Except during the civil war and a few years after when he was with his parents on Cane Hill, Ark. his whole life from boyhood to manhood was spent in Bentonville and his happy christian home was under the roof that covered his infant cries and sheltered his childhood years. For many years, with his father and brother, he was engaged in the mercantile business in Bentonville under the firm name of Craig & Sons. Jan. 14th, 1884 he was married to Miss Wincie McDaniel of Bentonville. To them were born two children, a daughter and son, both living, and the greatest remaining earthly hope and comfort to their bereaved mother. About four years ago he moved with his family to DeQueen, the present home of the family. Feb. 1883 he professed faith in Christ as his personal Savior and united with the C.P. Church at Bentonville. Afterwards he wandered from this profession but under the merciful though afflictive providence of our Heavenly Father, he was brought to reflection and repentance and became a reformed man and was restored, as those who best knew him are assured, into favor with his Saviour. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a kind and affectionate son and brother, and his taking away has left a deep wound in the hearts of his loved ones which none but God can heal. Many of his old comrades and associates from his boyhood, with a great concourse of friends, neighbors and acquaintances attended his funeral, all in deepest sympathy with his bereaved wife and children, his dear loving mother and brothers, and the kindred all, after which his remains were buried in the family lot in the Odd Fellows cemetery. May the grace of God and the comfort of his Holy Spirit rest upon these sorrowing hearts. P. Carnahan.
