John E. Craig, a well-known farmer and carpenter of Spavinaw, died here in Dr. Hughes office on Saturday at 4 p.m. after a very brief illness of peritonitis. Mr. Craig had been to Westline, Mo. with Wash Evans' K.C.S. fence gang and was taken sick on Thursday evening and started home Friday morning. On arrival here Friday night he managed to get to Hughes' office from which he was not able to leave again, the disease making such rapid progress. His mother, Mrs. Austin, and brother-in-law, Duke Kelley, were with him when he died. The funeral was held on Sunday, conducted by A.M. Rodgers, and burial at Bethel cemetery. Mr. Craig was a good Christian, a man who was the same every day and everywhere you met him. He was aged about 48, was single, having spent his life with his mother. The News joins with friends of the family in extending the aged mother and other relatives condolence.
