Hamburg, AR
Laverne Guy, 61, of Hamburg died Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at Ashley County Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Hamburg, she was retired from Hamburg Shirt Factory and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Marvin Walter and Brian Guy, both of Hamburg, and Ralph Walter of Crossett; one daughter, Pamela Harris of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, Alf Freddie Tucker of Hamburg and Theodis Tucker of Muskegon, MI; three sisters, Clay J. Paskel of Muskegon, Helen Lassiter of Pine Bluff and Willie Swinney of Cedar Rapids, IA; one sister-in-law, Mattie Tucker of Hamburg; a special friend, Tiffany Sherrer of Hamburg; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Guy; her parents, Henry and Verdell Calloway Tucker; and one brother, Elder Charles Tucker.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Willie R. Taylor officiating. Burial was at Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were John Ware, Terry Rucker, Vernon Fisher, Ed Brown, Keith Pippen and Alfred Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were Alf Freddie Tucker Jr., Sam Smith, Larry Smith, Sharrod Paskel, De Andrea Winn, Kenty Lassiter, Anthony Tucker, Myron Tucker, Roderick Cook, Tony Gresham and Rev. Arnold Robertson.
