MELBOURNE – Cassie J. Phipps, 82, of Violet Hill died Monday, July 29, 2002, at a Batesville hospital.
Born Aug. 15, 1919, at Lunenburg, she was the daughter of James William Haney and Ollie F. Hall Haney. She was a homemaker, a former member of the Larkin Extension Homemakers Club and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include seven sons, Tom Phipps and Dean Phipps, both of Larkin, Gale Phipps of Brockwell, Jim Phipps of Newburg, Carl Phipps Jr. and Jerry Phipps, both of Hickory Ridge, and Paul Phipps of Oxford; two daughters, Janie Tate of Melbourne and Gaye Carpenter of Violet Hill; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Phipps Sr.; a grandson, Rocky Phipps; and a great-grandson, Tommy Phipps.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with Randy Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty Cemetery near Violet Hill.
Pallbearers will be Mike Phipps, Sonny Phipps, Kelly Phipps, Logan Phipps, Steve Phipps and Jeremy Shaver.
Honorary pallbearers are Justin Conyers and Scott Phipps.
