MEEKS, Georgia FLETCHER - Mrs. F.Z. Meeks died Monday afternoon about three o'clock at her home on South Second street. Death was the result of pneumonia and she had been ill only a short time. Both lungs were affected from the first and it was realized that her chances for recovery were very slight. Weakened by childbirth, she was unable to resist the attack and the end came quickly. Her father and mother arrived last week and were here at the time of her death. Funeral services are being held at the residence this afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. Jordan of the Baptist church assisted by Rev. Marshal of the Congregational church. The sudden death of Mrs. Meeks has been a great shock to our citizens and the sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved husband and the three motherless boys. Since she came to Rogers as a bride seven years ago last fall she had gained the love and friendship of a large circle of friends and her death will be a personal loss to many. It is in the home where the blow falls heaviest and Heaven alone can bring solace to the broken and desolated hearts. Georgia Fletcher was born January 17, 1869 near Alma, Lafayette county, Mo. and was the only daughter of G.B. Fletcher and wife. She united with the Presbyterian church at the age of sixteen and was always a faithful and consistent Christian. She was educated in the local schools, save for a year in the high school at Odessa. She was married November 15, 1899 to F.Z. Meeks of Rogers and had since made her home in this city. To them were born three sons, Felix, aged six; Fletcher, two and Edwin Darnell, born only a little over three weeks ago. It is understood that Mr. Meeks' sisters, Misses Ella and Levia, will again make their home with him and that the little family will not be separated. Two brothers of the deceased, S.W. and Walker Fletcher, both of Alma, arrived yesterday to attend the funeral. Two other brothers, Guy B., who is in Montana, and John K., who is in Nebraska, were unable to attend. Mrs. Meeks was a niece of Mrs. T.B. Warren of this city, the latter being a sister of Mr. Fletcher.
