BELLA VISTA — Jane L. Grady, of Bella Vista, died Jan. 9, 2006. She was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Long Island, N.Y. She enjoyed teaching and nurturing children. She earned a B.S. degree in education from Michigan State University and
taught in elementary schools in Michigan and Illinois. She was instrumental in the implementation of the first Title VII educational programs for disadvantaged children in the mid-70s. She was active in Girl Scouts and was director of children's education at Holy Family Episcopal Church in Park Forest, Ill. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista in 1988, where she was a leader in many charitable, social and religious organizations. She also worked with the Seniors Assisting Seniors, historian and a member of the Bella Vista Ladies Golf League. She directed church school programs at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Grady, and one son, Phillip.
Survivors include one son, Steve Grady and wife Jodie of Chanhassen, Minn.; one daughter, Janice Blake and husband Michael of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; five grandchildren; one sister, Carol Englander.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista. Burial will follow in St. Theodore's Columbarium for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72762.
Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.
