Gwenith Storey Jones was born August 8, 1916 to Joseph Franklin Storey and Kate Alice Russell Storey in Mtn. View. She was called from this life September 22, 2007 at Stone County Medical in Mtn. View at age 91.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young adult and was a member of First Baptist Church, Mtn. View.
Gwenith Storey was married to E. R. ‘Heavy' Jones on July 22, 1937. They were owners of the P.X. Café for many years now known as P.J.'s Rainbow Café. Many of the teenage girls in Stone County during the 50's and 60's worked for them and Gwenith taught most of them how to make her famous pies. After selling the business she worked at Mtn. View School as a cafeteria employee. She enjoyed working with her friends there and always managed to have some fun with them each day. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers: Tom, Cullen, Frazer, Bailey and J.D. Storey; sisters: Allie Dearien, Alma and Reva Killian and Dollie Belle Lancaster; grandson, Travis Thompson, Jr and son-in-law, Travis Thompson, Sr.
She is survived by one son, Don Jones and his wife Judy of Mtn. View; two daughters, Kay Thompson Jackson and husband Don of Wheatland, California and Martha Simmons and husband Danny of Mtn. View; six grandchildren: Bob Jones and wife Tina, Susan Green and husband Kevin, Amy Gammill and husband Jason all of Mtn. View; Ernie Thompson and wife Johnnie of Wheatland, Calif., Kelly Simmons of Mtn. View and Russell Simmons and wife Elizabeth of Fayetteville; Eight great-grandchildren: Taylor and Robert Jones, Bailey and Haydon Green, Olivia Callahan and Zachary, Mitchell and Tyler Thompson; A cousin, Verda Storey Rosa and a close family friend, Mary Lou Looney both of Mtn. View and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation is 6 – 8 p.m., September 25, 2007 at Roller Crouch Chapel.
Funeral service is 10 a.m., September 26, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Mtn. View with Bro. Ray Brown and Bro. Doug Stewart officiating and interment in Flatwoods Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Stone County Medical Center of Building Fund of First Baptist Church in Mtn. View
