Hollis Edward Dobbins, 81, of Mtn. View, Ark. died at the age of 81 years after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 22, 1927 in Allison, Ark.
He was veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member and deacon of White Water Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1992.
Hollis was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was known for his friendly nature, humor and willingness to help others. He never met a stranger. He loved his family and can never be replaced. He worked as a city marshal in Mtn. View, retired from the U.S. Forest Service with 20 years service; owned Pa & Ma's BBQ, and a two term councilman. Early in life he worked the Allison Ferry and worked for the state and was involved in building the bridge across White River.
Survivors include his wife Thelma Dobbins of 59 years. One son Steve Dobbins and wife Denise of Mtn. View, two daughters, Marsha Balentine and husband Don of Batesville, Ark. and Beth Vaughan and husband Jesse of Cushing, Okla.; grandchildren include Timothy Jensen and wife Amanda, Sean Jensen and wife Summer, Angela and Amanda Balentine, Stefani Clark and husband Nathan and Dalton Butterworth; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Keaton, and Preston Jensen and Kenli Jo Clark; one sister Virginia Jones and husband Bill of Dover, Ark. and a niece Cathy Gheta who was thought of as a daughter and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Elizabeth (Teague) Dobbins, two brothers Bill and Paul Dobbins and three sisters Fern Mitchell, Wanda Engles and Gladys Balentine
Burial was in Flatwoods Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Timothy Jensen, Sean Jensen, Dalton Butterworth, Nathan Clark, Terry Gheta and Jay Stevens.
Honorary pallbearers are Jesse Vaughan, Don Balentine, Alvy Mitchell, Chester Passmore, Arnold Lincoln, Coffee Shop Boys and the Deacons of Whitewater Missionary Baptist Church.
