Jean Hicks Beals, 71, formerly of Searcy and Letona passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born in Letona on Wednesday, February 1, 1939 to the late JB and MaryEtta Pate Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands Ralph Adkins and Eugene Beals.

Jean was a Girl Scout leader for many years in Oxford, Michigan. She was a Nursing student in Oakland County and worked in a skilled trade at General Motors in Pontiac and Oxford, Michigan where she spent most of her life. Jean then returned to Arkansas where she was a caregiver for private individuals. She also loved teaching Sunday School.

Jean is survived by her children, Brenda Kay White of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, Phyllis Adkins Cox of Birmingham, Alabama, Elton (Rose) Hicks of Oxford, Michigan; sister Margurette Annette O’Brien of Belleview, Florida; brother, Stuart Dale Hamacher of Brooksville, Florida; Granddaughter, Autumn Manes of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas; Great-Granddaughter, Sienna Kai Coffee; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Letona, Arkansas. Arrangements entrusted to Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy.
