Obituary - Mrs. Bernice Adair Barnes, 91, of Snyder died Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at the Searcy Health Care Center in Searcy. Mrs. Barnes was a native of Ashley County and resident of Snyder for most of her life. She was a homemaker; a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star, Portland Chapter, for 55 years.
She is survived by a son, William Claude "Buddy" Barnes, Jr. and wife Linda of Monticello; a daughter, Frankie Barnes Sumner and husband J. P. of Searcy; a special sister-in-law, Agnes Adair, and a special niece, Sue Adair Bailey, both of Searcy; seven grandchildren, Kesten Summers, Stan Summers, Stacy Summers Interrante, Kelly Sumner Stanley, Susan Sumner Hathcote, William Claude "Bill" Barnes III and Terri Lynn Barnes Riley and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Dingler in 1935 and William Claude Barnes Sr. in 1991; a daughter, Lela Dingler Summers in 1998; her parents, Frank & Bertha Chambers Adair and a brother, Thomas Adair.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 11, in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Bates and Sue Adair Bailey officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Bailey, Ross Barnes, George Moyers, Tommy Moyers, Dale Bates and James Nelms. Honorary pallbearers were Elvin, Alvin, T. R. & Gene Bates, A. B. Nelms, Jackie Nelms, Buddy Tanksley and Houston Bryant. Burial followed services at the Snyder Cemetery.
