FAYETTEVILLE — James Dewey Todd, 85, of Fayetteville died April 10, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Madison County to Alice Todd and James Thomas Todd.

He married Mary Clark on March 22, 1944. He graduated St. Paul High School and attended business college in Missouri. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, serving in the European Theater. He earned his wings as a paratrooper and also served in the Army of Occupation in the European Theater.

After service, he began work at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he worked for 39 years. He served as assistant chief of medical administration. Also, he and his wife Mary were contracted carriers for the Northwest Arkansas Times for more than 53 years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Clark Todd.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry J. Todd and wife Mary Ann of Springdale; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter, a great-grandson; a sister, Joan Johnson of Fayetteville; three half sisters, Wilma Patrick of Nob Hill, Hazel Saunders of Springfield, Mo., and Jimmie Lou Whorton of Springdale; his stepmother, Edith Bowman of Springdale.

There is no scheduled visitation.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beard's Chapel with Ray Nibiock officiating.

Burial will be in McCord Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
