Vernalou Labitad, 18 year-old resident of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma, died April 6, 2005, on Hwy 10 near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Born October 24, 1986 in Bulacan, Philippines, she was the daughter of Teofilo Labitad and Bernadita Llenado Labitad. She was a 2004 graduate of Watts High School, Watts, Oklahoma where she participated in basketball, softball, and track. Verna was currently attending Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and was considering a career in nursing. She also worked as a waitress for Callahan's Steak House in Siloam Spring, Arkansas. Verna moved to the area five years ago from San Jose, California. Survivors include her parents of the home; five brothers, Gilmark Labitad, Filberl Labitad and Garry Labitad of the home, Gilbert Labitad and Gibson Labitad of the Philippines; grandparents Pascual and Espernza Labitad of California and Eduardo and Maura Llenado of the Philippines; five aunts, Adie Salazar and Amy Thomas of Watts, Oklahoma, Aneta Wood and Gloria Labitad of California; two uncles, Danny Labitad and wife Luci and Greg Labitad and wife Visitacion of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; and 17 cousins. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Siloam Springs, with Father Clayton Gould officiating.
