Earnie Dodson, 58 years old of 2008 Cedar street, Van Buren died Friday morning, Jan. 31 at Arkhola Sand and Gravel Plant following a short illness.
He had been employed at Arkhola for more than 22 years as plant operator and was a veteran of World War Two and member of the Free Holiness church.
A native of Van Buren, he was born Jan. 29, 1911 to the late J. W. Dodson and Mrs. Meadie Dodson of Van Buren.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Edna Yeakley Dodson; two sons, Earnie Dodson Jr. with the U.S. Army at Fairbanks, Alaska and Ronnie Dodson of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Wanda Hyde of Brooksfield, Ohio, Mrs. Louise Rainwater and MRs. Mary Allen, both of Van Buren, Mrs. Virginia Phillips and Mrs. Linda Dunn, both of Fort Smith; his mother, Mrs. Meadie Dodson of Van Buren; three brothers, Lalen Dodson, William Clovis Dodson and Elmer Dodson, all of Van Buren; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Steele of Calif., Mrs. Vernie Garrett who is his twin sister, Mrs. Pauline Crutchfield, Mrs. Fairy Barnard and Miss Elsie Dodson, all of Van Buren; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Faith Tabernacle on North 20 street. Earl Price of Muldrow and Plumer Hunter, paster of the Free Holiness church, officiated. Burial, direced by Ocker Funeral Home, was in Hall cemetery at Natural Dam.
Casket bearers were Bud Chapman, Harry Greenstreet, George Ransom, Joe Wasson, Carl Bowen, Arthur Beskin and Dean Gaither.
Honorary pallbearers were Walter Howard, Crawford Howard, Vie Wescott, Monroe Wescott, Bob Smith and James Garrett.
