Freda Wilma Felts, 96
Freda Wilma Felts, of Viola, daughter of the late David Bradley and Margaret Lou (Casey) Rosier, was born April 20, 1911, in Shady Grove. She departed this life Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Hospice House in Mountain Home at age 96 years, one month and seven days.
A funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Viola First Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Spurlin and Bro. Robert Lash officiating. Freda was united in marriage to James (Jim) Felts Sept. 23, 1927, and to this union five children were born. Freda spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of Viola First Baptist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing a son, James Felts Jr. of Batesville; four daughters, Margaret (Sally) Rogers and husband, Gene, of Marshall, Peggy Hassett and husband, Matt, of Tempe, Ariz., and Wilma McCandlis and husband, Neal, and Kathie Stone and husband, Coy, all of Viola; special sister-in-law, Minnie Felts of Viola; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Lena Sutterfield, Mae Kinder, Sue Spurlock, Megan Carl, Janet Golden, Peggy Palmer, Latoshia Marlin and Neesha Barker; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Felts; daughter-in-law, Ella Faye Felts; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Interment will be at Viola Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dennis Cherry, Lanny Felts, Jeff Rogers, Lee Rogers, Kevin McCandlis, Flint Craig, Andy McCandlis, and Doug Stone. Memorials are preferred to Viola Cemetery Association.
