NEWBOLD, Harry N. - from The Siloam Springs Daily Republican} A shock ran through the city at a few minutes after 1:15 Friday when the word passed that Harry N. Newbold had dropped dead of heart failure. Mr. Newbold went home at noon in his usual cheerful frame of mind but he was not as rugged as outward appearances would indicate. It develops that he was affected with heart trouble. As he was going home at noon he sat down at the top of the laundry steps hill to rest, remarking to R.F. Guilliams, who came up just then, that climbing the hill nearly got him. At home he was cheerful and light-hearted. After dinner Mr. Newbold hitched up his horse and drove north. At the brow of the hill on the street west of the school house death overtook him. Mr. Crawford, who lives on the west side of the street, was sitting reading at a window and saw Mr. Newbold pass. In a few minutes, having finished his reading, he arose and just then heard the buggy stop. Looking out he saw the horse standing and the driver lying prostrate. Hastening over he found Mr. Newbold lying on the street and he gasped only twice after Mr. Crawford reached his side and all was over. Mr. Crawford gave the alarm at once. Evidently Mr. Newbold was stricken while he rode along in the buggy and fell out. He struck on his head to the west of the buggy. There was an abrasion on the right temple and scratches on his right hand. Death must have been due to heart failure. He had been cautioned by his physician some time ago that the end would come suddenly in the manner in which it did. C.C. Cooley, J.P. and deputy coroner, viewed the body and decided that an inquest was unnecessary. The body was then taken home.
