Obituary for Kowanda Watson:

Kowanda Watson, of Viola, daughter of the late Erby Carroll and Anna Rebecca Whitaker Carroll, was born March 14, 1917 in Viola, AR. She died May 18, 2010 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 93 years 2 months and 4 days. She was united in marriage to Horace O. Watson Oct. 6, 1934 at Viola. She was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church and she was a homemaker.

Survivors include: her daughter Carol Ann Hill and husband Charles of Cherokee Village; her granddaughter DeeAnn McCoy and husband Clint of Bryant; step-granddaughter Karla Coleman and husband David of El Dorado; 1 great-granddaughter Natalie McCoy; 3 step great-grandchildren; her brother E.R. Carroll of West Plains, MO., and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Johnece Love and her father and mother. Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Viola United Methodist Church with burial in Viola Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Cox-Blevins Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Viola United Methodist Church or the Susan G. Komen Cure and left at the Funeral Home.
