Maxine the daughter of Jess E Reed and Marie (Burk) Reed. Bert the son of John M Biggs and Dovie (Casey) Biggs.

Walnut Ridge – James Albert Biggs, 92, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge. He was born on May 11, 1923 in Light to John M. and Dovie Casey Biggs. He served in the army and played minor league baseball for the New York Yankees. Mr. Biggs retired from Frit Industries. He is a long time member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were: his parents; his wife of over fifty years, Maxine Reed Biggs; brother, Thad Biggs; and sisters, Vada Payne and Zora Grambling.

Survivors include: daughters, Shirley Waites of Arnold, Missouri and Deborah Foley of Smithville; son, James M. Biggs of Paragould; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, other nieces, and many friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 5-8 pm at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Funeral will be Monday, February 29, 2016 at 2 pm at Cox Funeral Home with John Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Smithville Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maxine Biggs, 70, of Walnut Ridge will be this afternoon at 2 in the chapel of Higginbotham Funeral Service of Walnut Ridge with Rev. Bob Smith and Jerry Clements officiating.

Burial will follow in Smithville Cemetery.

Mrs. Biggs died Saturday at her home. Born at Lafe, she was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church at Walnut Ridge.

Survivors include her husband, James Biggs of the home; one son, James Biggs of Paragould; two daughters, Shirley Waites of Arnold, Mo., and Deborah Foley of Smithville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.
