Eunissa Peebles Alexander, 76, died at her home in Smithville on Sunday, 06 Nov 1938, at about 2:30 pm. Mrs. Alexander lived most of her life near Smithville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Burgess and Margaret J. Cravens Peebles, her husband, James Lafayette Alexander whom she married on 08 Sep 1881, a son, Calvin Buren Alexander, and three daughters, Laura, Lillie and Lockie. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Ora McLeod (Mrs. Murdock Cornelius McLeod) of Walnut Ridge and Jeffie Long (Mrs. John C. Long) of Smithville; her son, James Thomas Alexander and his wife, Flora Erwin Moore, of Arkadelphia; a brother, James Burgess Peeples of Sharp County; and, four sisters, Effie Arnold (Mrs. William Noel Arnold) of Williford, Eva Rogers (Mrs. Wes Rogers) of Cave City, Addie Craig (Mrs. Thomas Sheridan Craig) of Black Rock, and Mattie Coffman, (Mrs. Lee Coffman) of Smithville.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by Dr. Charles D. Tibbels of Black Rock, assisted by Rev. Richey of Smithville. [Adapted from her Obituary]
