Betty Jo Bean, 81, longtime resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died August 8, 2007, at Pointe Lookout Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Branson, Missouri. She was born October 18, 1925, in Washington County Arkansas to Joe Newton Lamons and Freddie Jane Lamons. On January 27, 1945, she married Marion Denton Bean. They lived in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, until his death on January 1, 2001. She then lived in Maumelle, Arkansas, and Branson, Missouri.
Betty Jo received her Bachelor of Science Degree from John Brown University and Graduate Education studies from Northeastern University. She taught 32 years in the Siloam Springs School System. She retired from teaching and traveled extensively with her husband, Denton.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Siloam Springs, Beta Sigma Phi Women's Service Organization, Lion Tamers Siloam Springs Chapter and Treasure Lake RV Club of Branson, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Winnie Russell, two brother-in-laws, Paul Russell and Russell Smith, and one nephew, Dale Smith.
She is survived by one daughter Sharron Smith, and husband, Jackie, of Branson, Missouri; two granddaughters, Sydnie Williams, and husband, Tim, of Grove, Oklahoma, Whitney Duncan, and husband, Jerry, of Bentonville, Arkansas; six great-grandchildren, Kirby, Reid, Nate, and Ivey Williams of Grove, Cameron and Avery Duncan of Bentonville; two sisters, Ruth Smith of Midland, Texas, Helen Griffin and husband, Sam, of Summers, Arkansas; one niece, Shirley Moreland and husband, John, of Midland, Texas, and one nephew, Sammy Griffin, and wife, Martha, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
